Religion and Politics, the world we are living in can be divided into various states. These states have got their distinct governments and forms of governments. The formation of these governments and their functions is determined by the comprehension of politics and its nature. Thinking of modern society without politics is impossible. It is just like thinking of ice without water.
Religion and Politics
The modern developments in the means of communication and transportation have brought the states close together. This has paved the way for various nations to have access and influence over others. The ideologies and interests of different nations are now more evident for one another than any other time in history. This has also paved the way of contradictions to flourish. These contradictions have threatened world peace because these contradictions are mostly because of differing interests and if these contradictions take the form of war.
It will be really horrifying for humanity because of the immense fighting capabilities of the states due to technological development. world peace is threatened today, but the question is, How can it be ensured. I think through religion it is impossible because religion lacks the very quality of flexibility and acceptability. If peace is to be maintained through religion, which religion should be followed to do so as every religion considers its doctrines to be the best and wants to dominate others.
History has shown that religious governments have always been the tyrant. The example of the Roman Empire is not hidden. Still, the people call it the dark age of European Society, and it really was a dark age. Monarchy ruled over the people like a ghost, and people were deprived of their very rudimentary rights. If the similar kinds of Empires with the same religious rigidity, and with the present warfare capabilities are developed then we can just dream of world peace.
Modern western welfare states have been established on the foundations of Modern Political System. which we call “Democracy”. Democracy has all the qualities of an ideal setup. Foreign policies of the democratic states are always are very flexible and they are always based on diplomacy and humanitarian values. Democratic set up in various states is not a forcefully implemented system rather it is a choice the states have made after many decades of political evolution.
It has a very rich history. European society adopted this system when it found religion incapable of establishing an ideal state. Today the concept of democracy is based on Secularism which strives for a religion-free politics and I think politics should be free of religion because it has to maintain peace and has to provide the rudimentary rights ‘of the people and only the flexible
doctrines of modern liberalism can ensure world peace, not the rigid nature of religion.
To say that the age of fantasy is now over. We should not be dodge anymore by the sanctity and honor of religious slogans. We should be realistic and logical and I am sure if we do so it won’t take centuries to establish international peace through scientific solutions provided by Politics. For more visit Techrout.
